2. Overview
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
This Manual contains instructions and warnings that must be followed during the installation and operation of the product
described in this manual. Failure to comply may invalidate the warranty and cause property damage or personal injury.
• Keep the enclosure in a controlled indoor environment, away from moisture, temperature extremes, flammable liquids and gasses,
conductive contaminants, dust and direct sunlight.
• Leave adequate space at the front and rear of the enclosure for proper ventilation. Do not block, cover or insert objects into the external
ventilation openings of the enclosure.
• The enclosure is extremely heavy. Use caution when handling the enclosure. Do not attempt to unpack, move or install it unassisted. Use a
mechanical device such as a forklift or pallet jack to move the enclosure in the shipping container.
• Do not place any object on the enclosure, especially containers of liquid, and do not attempt to stack the enclosures.
• Inspect the shipping container and the enclosure for shipping damage. Do not use the enclosure if it is damaged.
• Leave the enclosure in the shipping container until it has been moved as close to the final installation location as possible.
• Install the enclosure in a structurally sound area capable of handling the load, or on a level floor that is able to bear the weight of the
enclosure, all equipment that will be installed in the enclosure and any other enclosures and/or equipment that will be installed nearby.
• Use caution when cutting packing materials. The enclosure could be scratched, causing damage not covered by the warranty.
• Save all packing materials for later use. Repacking and shipping the enclosure without the original packing materials may cause product
damage that will void the warranty.
• Use of this equipment in life support applications where failure of this equipment can reasonably be expected to cause the failure of the life
support equipment or to significantly affect its safety or effectiveness is not recommended. Do not use this equipment in the presence of a
flammable anesthetic mixture with air, oxygen or nitrous oxide.

Low-Profile Wall-Mount SmartRack Enclosures provide convenient and secure vertical mounting for standard 19-inch rackmount equipment,
regardless of vendor, and ship fully assembled for quick and easy deployment in areas previously considered impossible for placement. Using
a modular design that easily assembles and disassembles, the enclosures support 8U (SRWF12U38) or 12U (SRWF16U38) of vertically
mounted equipment up to 38 inches deep and 4U of patch panels. Both units support up to 400 lb. maximum weight.

4 Preparation
Caution! Read All Instructions and Warnings Before Installation!
Warning: Rack enclosures can be extremely heavy. Do not attempt to unpack, move or install the enclosure without assistance.
Use extreme caution when handling the enclosure. Be sure to follow all handling and installation instructions.
Do not attempt to install equipment without first stabilizing the enclosure.
4.1. Unpacking
Use at least two people to unpack the enclosure.

Move shipping box to a firm, level surface.

Open box and remove the corner protectors. Save all packing materials for later use unless certain they will not be required. Packing
materials are recyclable.

With one person on each side, carefully lift the enclosure out of the box and place on a firm, level surface.

Examine the enclosure for any damage or loose parts. Confirm all parts are present. If anything is missing or damaged, contact Tripp Lite
for assistance. Do not attempt to use the enclosure if it has been damaged.

5. Installation
The enclosure installation area must be able to withstand the weight of the enclosure and all mounted equipment.
Refer to the Specifications section for enclosure model weight and capacity.
5.1. Mounting the Backplate
Mounting the Backplate to a Wall
Note: If the installation requires running cables through a wall, first remove
one or both of the cable access panels prior to mounting the Backplate.
For Stud Mount
Locate solid studs, 16” on center, before marking top two locations
for pilot holes. Drill #22 (0.157” or 4 mm) pilot holes, then drive
two (2) M10, 5/16” or 3/8 x 2.0” long (minimum) bolts (not
included) into the Backplate slots, spaced nominally at 16” at
the top. Tighten the first two bolts

, and then drill holes for the
remaining two (2) M10, 5/16” or 3/8” bolts into the bottom corners
of the backplate

. Use a minimum of four (4) locations for full
payload rating of 400 lb.
For Other Surfaces
When installing to other surfaces, drive toggle bolts into a 3/4”
plywood-backed wall or fender washers and concrete tapping screws
(3/16” x 2-1/4” minimum) into cinder block.
WARNING
• When installing wall mounts onto a concrete masonry
unit (also known as a CMU or “cinder block”), verify
that the actual concrete thickness is at least 35 mm
(1 3/8”) in order to hold the concrete anchors. DO NOT
DRILL INTO MORTAR JOINTS! Be sure to mount Backplate
onto solid sections of the blocks. The solid sections can
generally be found 25 mm (1”) toward the middle of the
block from either end. An electric drill on a slow setting
is suggested to drill the hole rather than a hammer drill,
so as to avoid breaking out the back of the hole when
entering a hollow section.
• Installers must verify that the supporting surface will
safely support the combined load of the equipment and
all attached hardware and components.
2-Post Rack-Mount Installation
The SRWF12U38 and SRWF16U38 are also designed for 2-post rack
mounting. To attach, drive #12-24 screws (not included) through
the Backplate into the corresponding 2-post mounting holes. Use a
minimum of 10 locations for full payload rating of 400 lb.

Side Panel Installation
After ensuring the Backplate is securely fastened to the wall or
2-post rack, install the Side Panels by inserting the Side Panel
hooks into the rectangular cutouts in the Backplate. Apply
downward pressure to properly seat the panels

Notes: The smooth surface of the Side Panels should face away from
one another.
All Side Panel hooks must be engaged for proper assembly.
After the Side Panels are seated, the top surface will be flush
with the internal 2U flanges in the Backplate. The bottom of the
Side Panels will be flush with the Backplate bottom. Two holes
for each Side Panel will align. Use four (4) supplied #12-24
screws for the two holes located in each Side Panel

all screws are firmly secured to the Backplate.

Vent Tray Installation
Slide the Vent Tray into the side panels’ bottom slots. The right-
angle flanges of the Vent Tray should face upward toward the
cabinet’s interior.

Front Panel Installation
Insert the Front Panel hooks into the rectangular cutouts in the
Side Panels. All hooks must be engaged for proper assembly.
Apply downward pressure to properly seat the panel. Secure the
Front Panel using (2) #6-32 Locking Screws.
Before installing the first piece of equipment,
make sure to temporarily install the Front Panel.
This allows uniform spacing of the Side Panels,
squares and aligns the cabinet, and ensures
proper seating of the locking cover. After the
first piece of equipment is securely installed,
the Front Panel and Vent Tray can once again be
removed to install any remaining equipment.

Equipment Installation

Cover Installation
Place cover onto the Side Panels and slide toward the
Backplate. When properly seated, the cover should be flush
against the Backplate and level with the top of the Backplate.
The cover may then be locked with either of the two (2) keys
provided.

6.1. Cable Access and Management
The top, bottom and sides of the cabinet contain rectangular openings (four total) for cable access and management. These can be opened or
closed by unscrewing or screwing the removable cable access panel.
For improved cooling efficiency and a cleaner installation appearnce, all cable access holes are compatible with Tripp Lite’s SRBRUSHWM
Brush Strip Plate accessory. The brush strip plate securely fits into the cable routing panel to block unwanted airflow. For more information, visit
www.tripplite.com.
6.2. Ground Connection
All parts of the enclosure are grounded to the frame. Use the enclosure’s front or rear threaded grounding point and an M6 screw to connect
the frame directly to your facility’s earth ground connection with an 8 AWG (3.264 mm) wire. Warning: Attach each enclosure to earth
ground separately. Do not use the enclosure without an earth ground connection.
Storage
The enclosure should be stored in a controlled indoor environment, away from moisture, temperature extremes, flammable liquids and gasses,
conductive contaminants, dust and direct sunlight. Store the enclosure in its original shipping container if possible.
Service
Your Tripp Lite product is covered by the warranty described in this manual. A variety of Extended Warranty and On-Site Service Programs are
also available from Tripp Lite. For more information on service, visit www.tripplite.com/support. Before returning your product for service, follow
these steps:
1. Review the installation and operation procedures in this manual to insure that the service problem does not originate from a misreading of
the instructions.
2. If the problem continues, do not contact or return the product to the dealer. Instead, visit www.tripplite.com/support.
3. If the problem requires service, visit www.tripplite.com/support and click the Product Returns link. From here you can request a Returned
Material Authorization (RMA) number, which is required for service. This simple on-line form will ask for your unit’s model and serial
numbers, along with other general purchaser information. The RMA number, along with shipping instructions will be emailed to you. Any
damages (direct, indirect, special or consequential) to the product incurred during shipment to Tripp Lite or an authorized Tripp Lite service
center is not covered under warranty. Products shipped to Tripp Lite or an authorized Tripp Lite service center must have transportation
charges prepaid. Mark the RMA number on the outside of the package. If the product is within its warranty period, enclose a copy of your
sales receipt. Return the product for service using an insured carrier to the address given to you when you request the RMA.

• Mantenga el gabinete en un entorno interior controlado lejos de humedad excesiva, temperaturas extremas, líquidos y gases inflamables,

4 Preparación
¡Precaución! ¡Lea todas las instrucciones y las advertencias antes de realizar la

Advertencia: Los gabinetes pueden ser sumamente pesados. No intente desempacar, mover o instalar el gabinete sin

4.1. Desempacado
Use al menos dos personas para desempacar el gabinete.

5.1. Instalación de la Placa de Respaldo
Instalación de la Placa de Respaldo en una Pared
Nota: Si la instalación requiere conducir cables a través de la pared, retire
primero uno o ambos paneles de acceso de cable antes de instalar la Placa
de Respaldo.
Para Instalación con Tornillos
Ubique los travesaños sólidos, centrados a 41 cm [16 pulg.], antes
de marcar dos ubicaciones superiores para los orificios piloto.
Perfore orificios piloto #22 (4 mm o 0.157 pulg.), entonces coloque
dos (2) tornillos M10, 5/16 pulg. o 3/8 x 2.0 pulg. [51 mm] de
longitud (mínimo) (no incluidos) en las ranuras de la Placa de
Respaldo, espaciados nominalmente a 41 cm [16 pulg.] en la parte

para concreto (mínimo 0.48 x 5.7 cm) en bloques de concreto.
ADVERTENCIA
• Al instalar soportes de pared en una unidad de
mampostería de concreto (conocida también como de
bloques de concreto), verifique que el espesor real
del concreto sea de al menos 35 mm [1 3/8”] a fin de
sujetar los taquetes para concreto. ¡NO TALADRE EN
LAS UNIONES DE ARGAMASA! Cerciórese de instalar
la Placa de Respaldo en las secciones sólidas de los
bloques. Las secciones sólidas pueden encontrarse
generalmente a 254 mm [1”] hacia el centro del bloque
en cada extremo. Se sugiere utilizar un taladro eléctrico
a baja velocidad para barrenar el orificio en vez de un
rotomartillo para evitar rotura de la parte posterior del
orificio al entrar en una sección hueca.
• Los instaladores deben verificar que la superficie de
apoyo soporte con seguridad la carga combinada de
todo el hardware y componentes instalados.
Instalación en Rack de 2 Postes
El SRWF12U38 y SRWF16U38 están también diseñados para
instalación en rack de 2 postes. Para instalar, coloque tornillos
#12-24 de rosca gruesa (suministrados) a través de la Placa de
Respaldo en los orificios de instalación correspondientes para 2
postes. Use un mínimo de 10 ubicaciones para una especificación
de carga de 181 kg [400 lb].

Instalación de Panel Lateral
Después de asegurar que la placa de respaldo está firmemente

Instalación de Panel Frontal
Inserte los ganchos del Panel Frontal en los recortes
rectangulares de los Paneles Laterales. Todos los ganchos
deben estar acoplados para lograr un ensamble adecuado.
Aplique presión hacia abajo para asentar apropiadamente el

6.1. Acceso y Manejo de Cables
La parte superior, inferior y costados del gabinete tienen aberturas rectangulares (cuatro en total) para la administración y acceso de cables.
Estas pueden ser abiertas o cerradas desatornillando o atornillando el panel removible de acceso de cables.
Para mejorar la eficiencia de enfriamiento y un aspecto más limpio de la instalación, todos los orificios de acceso de cable son compatibles

6.2. Conexión a Tierra

CONSERVEZ CES INSTRUCTIONS.
Ce manuel contient des instructions et des avertissements qui doivent être suivis lors de l'installation et du fonctionnement du produit
décrit dans ce manuel. Le non-respect pourrait annuler la garantie et causer des dommages à la propriété ou des blessures.
• Garder le boîtier dans un environnement intérieur contrôlé, à l'écart de l'humidité, des températures extrêmes, des liquides et des gaz
inflammables, des contaminants conducteurs, de la poussière et de la lumière directe du soleil.
• Allouer suffisamment d’espace à l’avant et à l’arrière du boîtier pour assurer une ventilation adéquate. Ne pas bloquer, couvrir ou insérer des
objets dans les ouvertures de ventilation externes du boîtier.
• Le boîtier est extrêmement lourd. Faire preuve de vigilance lors de la manutention du boîtier. Ne pas tenter de le déballer, de le déplacer
ou de l'installer sans assistance. Utiliser un dispositif mécanique comme un chariot élévateur à fourche ou un transpalette manuel pour
déplacer le boîtier dans le conteneur d'expédition.
• Ne placer aucun objet sur le boîtier, en particulier des récipients contenant un liquide et ne pas empiler d'objets sur les boîtiers.
• Inspecter le conteneur d'expédition et le boîtier pour s'assurer qu'ils n'ont subi aucun dommage durant le transport. Ne pas utiliser le boîtier
s'il est endommagé.
• Laisser le boîtier dans le conteneur d'expédition jusqu'à ce qu'il soit déplacé aussi près que possible de l'emplacement d'installation final.
• Installer le boîtier dans un endroit solidement construit capable de supporter la charge, ou sur un plancher au niveau capable de supporter
le poids du boîtier, de tout l'équipement qui sera installé dans le boîtier et de tout autre boîtier ou équipement qui sera installé à proximité.

Les boîtiers muraux peu encombrants SmartRack permettent un montage vertical pratique et sécuritaire pour l'équipement de montage en
bâti standard de 48,3 cm [19 po], peu importe le fournisseur, et sont expédiés complètement assemblés pour un déploiement rapide et
simple dans des zones précédemment considérées comme impossibles. En utilisant une conception modulaire qui s'assemble et se démonte
facilement, les boîtiers peuvent accueillir 8U (SRWF12U38) ou 12U (SRWF16U38) d'équipement monté verticalement jusqu'à 96,5 cm
[38 po] de profondeur et 4U de panneaux de câblage. Les deux appareils peuvent supporter jusqu'à 181 kg [400 lb].

4 Préparation
Mise en garde! Lire toutes les instructions et les avertissements avant l'installation.
Avertissement : Les boîtiers pour bâti peuvent être extrêmement lourds. Ne pas tenter de déballer, déplacer ou installer
le boîtier sans aide. Faire preuve d'extrême vigilance lors de la manutention du boîtier. S'assurer de respecter toutes les
instructions concernant la manutention et l'installation.
Ne pas tenter d'installer l'équipement sans d'abord stabiliser le boîtier.
4.1. Déballage
Le boîtier devrait être déballé par au moins deux personnes.

Déplacer la boîte d'expédition sur une surface ferme et au niveau.

Ouvrir la boîte et retirer les cornières de protection. Conserver tout le matériel d'emballage en vue d'une utilisation ultérieure à moins
d'être sûr qu'il ne sera plus requis. Le matériel d'emballage est recyclable.

Avec une personne de chaque côté, soulever soigneusement le boîtier hors de la boîte et le placer sur une surface ferme au niveau.

Vérifier que le boîtier n’est pas endommagé et qu'il n'y a pas de pièces desserrées. Confirmer qu'il ne manque aucune pièce. Si quoi que
ce soit manque ou est endommagé, contacter Tripp Lite pour obtenir de l'aide. Ne pas tenter d'utiliser le boîtier s'il a été endommagé.
4.2. Démontage

Retirer l’appareil de la palette
d’expédition et de l’emballage.

Déverrouiller et retirer le couvercle.

Retirer les (2) vis de blocage #6-32,
puis soulever et retirer le panneau avant.

Retirer le plateau de l'évent.

5. Installation
L'emplacement où le boîtier sera installé doit pouvoir supporter le poids du boîtier et de tout l'équipement monté.
Se reporter à la section Caractéristiques techniques pour le modèle, le poids et la capacité du boîtier.
5.1. Montage de la bride de fixation murale
Montage de la bride de fixation murale sur un mur
Remarque : Si l'installation nécessite l'acheminement de câbles à travers un
mur, retirer d'abord un ou les deux panneaux d'accès aux câbles avant de
monter la bride de fixation murale.
Pour le montage sur un montant
Trouver des montants solides, centrés à 40,64 cm (16 po) l’un de
l’autre, avant de marquer les deux emplacements supérieurs pour
des avant-trous. Percer des avant-trous nº 22 (4 mm ou 0,157 po),
puis visser deux (2) vis M10, des boulons de 5/16 ou 3/8 po x 2,0 po
(5 cm) de long (minimum) (non inclus) dans les fentes de la bride de
fixation murale, espacées d’environ 40,64 cm (16 po) dans la partie
supérieure. Serrer les deux premiers boulons

, puis visser les deux
(2) boulons restants M10 de 5/16 ou 3/8 po dans les coins inférieurs
de la bride de fixation murale

. Utiliser au moins quatre (4)
emplacements pour une pleine charge nominale de 181 kg (400 lb).
Pour d'autres surfaces
Lors de l'installation sur d'autres surfaces, utiliser des trous de
passage de 1,3 cm [½ po] pour des boulons à ailettes dans un mur
recouvert de contreplaqué ou des rondelles de protection et des vis
taraudeuses pour béton (0,48 x 5,7 cm minimum) dans les blocs de
béton de mâchefer.
AVERTISSEMENT
• Lorsque les montages muraux sont installés sur un
élément de maçonnerie en béton (également appelé bloc
de béton ou « bloc de béton de mâchefer »), vérifier que
l'épaisseur réelle du béton est d'au moins moins 35 mm
[1-3/8 po] afin que le béton puisse supporter les ancrages
à béton. NE PAS PERCER DANS LES JOINTS DE MORTIER!
S'assurer de monter la bride de fixation murale dans des
sections de bloc solides. Les sections solides se trouvent
habituellement à 25 mm [1 po] vers le milieu du bloc à
partir de chaque extrémité. Il est suggéré d'utiliser une
perceuse électrique pour percer un trou plutôt qu'un
marteau perforateur afin d'éviter d'endommager l'arrière
du trou en présence d'un espace vide.
• Les installateurs doivent s'assurer que la surface
d'appui va supporter sans risque la charge combinée
de l'équipement et de tout le matériel et composants
attachés.
Installation dans un bâti à 2 montants
Le SRWF12U38 et le SRWF16U38 sont également conçus pour être
montés dans un bâti à 2 montants. Pour fixer, visser des vis
nº 12-24 (fournies) à travers la bride de fixation murale, puis dans
les trous de montage à 2 montants correspondants. Utiliser au
moins 10 emplacements pour une pleine charge nominale de
181 kg [400 lb.].
