OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Working in Automatic mode (self-leveling):
In automatic mode the laser level will level itself in the range
of ± 3.5° and will project 1 horizontal 360° or/and 2 vertical
360° red beams.
1. Remove the laser from the case and place it on a solid, at
vibration free surface or on a tripod.
2. Push the locking switch #1 to the ON position. The laser
level will project a 360° horizontal beam.
3. Press the lines button switch #2 this will switch off the
horizontal beam, and it will project a 360° vertical side beam.
4. Additional click on the lines button switch #2 will switch off
the side vertical beam, and will project forward a 360°
vertical beam.
5. Additional click on the lines button switch #2 will add the
side vertical beam.
6. Additional click on the lines button switch #2 will add the
horizontal beam.
7. Additional click on the lines button switch #2 will switch off
the 2 verticals beams.
8. If the initial level of the laser is beyond ± 3.5°and the
automatic mode is activated the laser beams will ash. In
this case reposition the laser on a more level surface.
9. Before moving the laser level push back the locking switch
#1 to the OFF position this will lock the pendulum, and
protect your laser.
11
Working in Manual mode:
In Manual mode the 883N self-leveling mechanism is disabled and
the laser beams can be set at any slope required.
1. Verify that the locking switch #1 is on the OFF position.
2. Press and hold the lines button switch #2 for 3 sec to activate the
manual mode. The laser level will project a 360° horizontal beam,
that will ash every 5 sec. to let you know that the beam is not
leveled.
3. To mark a slope, tilt the laser to the desired angle.
4. To choose another beam, briey press on the line button switch #2.
5. Briey press on the lines button switch #2. This will switch off the
horizontal beam, and it will project a 360° vertical side ashing
beam.
6. Additional click on the lines button switch #2. This will switch off
the side vertical beam, and will project forward a 360° vertical
ashing beam.
7. Additional click on the lines button switch #2. This will add the side
vertical ashing beam.
8. Additional click on the lines button switch #2. This will add the
horizontal ashing beam.
9. Additional click on the lines button switch #2. This will switch OFF
all the beams.
10.While in Manual mode, turning the locking switch #1 from OFF
to ON will turn off the Manual mode. The automatic self – leveling
mode will be activated (if the laser level is within the self –
leveling range).
12
Working in Pulse mode with a detector:
For outdoor work under direct sunlight, or bright conditions,
and for extended indoor ranges up to 60 meters, use the
pulse mode with a Detector. When the pulse mode is
activated the laser beams will ash at a very high frequency
(Invisible to the human eye). This will allow the detector to
detect the laser beams.
1. The pulse mode can be activated only in Automatic mode.
2. Push the locking switch #1 to the ON position. The laser
level will project a 360° horizontal beam.
3. Press and hold the lines button switch #2 for 3 sec to
activate the pulse mode. Visually you can see that the
intensity of the beam is reduced a little bit.
4. Turn on the detector and search the laser beam.
5. You can choose a different beam, by briey pressing on
the lines button switch #2, while you are in Pulse Mode.
6. To switch off the Pulse Mode, press and hold the lines
button switch #2 for 3 sec.
13
MAINTENANCE
To maintain the accuracy of your project, check the accuracy
of your laser level according to the eld calibration tests
procedures.
• Change the batteries when the laser beams begin to dim.
• Wipe the aperture lens and the body of the laser level with a
clean soft cloth. Do not use solvents.
• Although the laser level is dust and dirt resistant to a certain
degree do not store in dusty places as a long term exposure
may damage internal moving parts.
• If the laser level is exposed to water, dry the laser level
before returning it to the carrying case to prevent corrosion
damages.
• Remove the batteries if the laser level is unused for a long
period of time to prevent corrosion damages.

FIELD CALIBRATION TEST
This laser level left the factory fully calibrated. Kapro
recommend that the user will check the accuracy of the laser
periodically, or if the unit falls or is mishandled.
1. Check the height accuracy of the cross created by the lateral
(#5) and the horizontal lines.
2. Check the height accuracy of the cross created by the
longitudinal (#4) and the horizontal lines.
3. Check the accuracy of the forward vertical beam.
4. Check the accuracy of the side vertical beam.
5. Check the perpendicularity between the 2 vertical beams.
1.Checking the Height Accuracy of the cross created by
lateral (#5), and the Horizontal lines.
(Up and down deviation)
1) Set up the laser on a table or on the oor between 3 walls
A, B and C. The distance between A and B should be
approximately 5 meters
2) Position the laser level approximately 0.5 meters from wall A
and 2 meters from wall C.
3) Unlock the pendulum and press the botton swich #2, 4 times
to project all 3 lasers beams.
4) Direct the cross lines of the horizontal beam and the side
vertical beam (# 5) towards wall A.
5) Mark on the wall A the center of the cross beams as a1,
and on the wall C mark the center of the cross beam as c1
(see gure # 1).
15
6) Turn the laser 180° towards wall B. Reposition the laser and
Verify that the 2 vertical lines pass through a1, and c1.
7) Mark on wall B the center of the cross beams as b1
(see gure # 2).

approximately 5 meters.
2) Position the laser level approximately 0.5 meters from wall A
and 2 meters from wall C.
3) Unlock the pendulum and press the botton swich #2, 4 times
to project all 3 lasers beams.
4) Direct the cross lines of the horizontal beam and the forward
vertical beam (#4) towards wall A.
5) Repeat the previous marking procedures from paragraph 5 - 16
3. Checking the Accuracy of the forward Vertical beam (#4).
1) Hang approximately 3 meter plumb line on a wall.
2) After the plumb line has settled, Mark point a1 on the wall
behind the plumb line near the plumb cone. (see gure # 5).
19
3) Set up the laser on a tripod or on a solid surface in front of the
wall at a distance of approximately 2 meters.
4) Unlock the pendulum, and press the button to project the
vertical forward beam (#4) towards the plumb line.
5) Turn the laser so that the vertical beam will merge with the
plumb line below the hanging point.
6) Mark point a2 on the wall, in the middle of the vertical beam
at the same height of a1. (see gure # 6).
