Important safety instructions
● Before the appliance is used, the main unit as well as any attachment fitted should be
checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped
onto a hard surface, it must not be used any longer: even invisible damage may have
adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
● This appliance is not intended for use by any person (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, unless they
have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety. It is not advised to use this appliance by children under 14.
● Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
● Do not leave the water kettle unattended during operation. Use only pure water when
filling the container to the desired level, observing the Min. and Max. markings.
● Overfilling the container may cause danger from boiling water being forced out.
Also beware of the danger of scalding from hot steam being emitted.
Therefore, do not touch any parts of the appliance except the handle during use.
● The housing becomes hot during use.
Caution! During the boiling process and when pouring out hot water, the lid must be kept
closed at all times.
● The kettle may only be operated with the base provided with the appliance.
● The appliance must be used only on a heat-resistant, level surface.
● Do not allow the appliance or its power cord to come into contact with open flames or
any hot surfaces such as hotplates.
● Do not let the power cord hang free, and keep the cord well away from hot parts of the
housing.
● Always remove the plug from the wall socket,
- in case of any malfunction,
- after use,
- during cleaning of the appliance.
● No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these
instructions are not complied with.
● This kettle is intended for domestic use only and not for commercial applications.
● In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical
appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the replacement of the
power cord. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service
departments. The address can be found in the appendix to this manual.
Thermal safety cut-out
The preset thermal safety cut-out protects the heating element from overheating should the
appliance be erroneously switched on without any water, or if the heating element is
calcified. Once the safety cut-out has switched off the kettle, it must be allowed to cool
down sufficiently, or must be descaled before it is switched on again.
Before using for the first time
● For reasons of hygiene, discard the first three filling of water.
Boiling water
- Never remove the water container from the base (or replace it) while the appliance is
switched on.
- Remove the water container from its base.
- Release and open the lid, and fill the container with water to the desired level,
observing the Min. and Max. markings.
- Before closing the lid and placing the container back on its base, ensure that the
appliance has not yet been switched on.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and press the On/Off switch.
- The boiling process begins. After reaching the boiling point, the appliance is
automatically switched off by the integral steam cut-off device.
- If you want to interrupt the boiling process, set the On/Off switch to its Off position.
To pour hot water, remove the container from its base.
- To prevent hot steam from being emitted, ensure that the lid remains closed while
pouring out the water.
Descaling
Depending on the water quality in your area, lime deposits may build up on the heating
element. It is advisable to remove any such deposits at regular intervals.
