Important to know
Service and repair may only be
performed by the distributor, or by a
service organization approved by the
distributor. Only repair parts delivered
by the distributor may be used.
Please read the warranty.
Avoid pinching the cable.
The hob unit is intended for ordinary
household cooking purposes. Any
other use can result in damage to the
unit as well as personal injury.
Use only pots and pans with a rigid,
even contact surface - uneven contact
surface results not only in poor heat
conduction, but also increases the risk
of dangerous spills.
During deep-fat frying, sauteeing,
melting of butter, etc., one must always
remain near the unit, due to the danger
of fire. In the event of fire the unit
must be shut off immediately (and the
cooker hood as well, if in use).
Make sure that the unit is shut off
when not in use - the knob should rest
at “0”.
The unit becomes dangerously hot
during use, and remain so for a period
of time. They should therefore be
treated with due respect. Keep children
at a distance.
For safety's sake, turn pots and pans so
that handles do not protrude, thus
inviting accidents.
Never place plastic or paper, etc., on
the unit. If the unit should be switched
on by accident, the paper could burn,
plastic melt, etc.
For hygienic and safety reasons the
unit must be kept clean. Grease, oil
and food spills create unpleasant
odours when burnt, and can in some
cases result in open flames.
Read - and adhere to - the users
instructions, as well as any instructions
and warnings printed on the labels of
the cleaning agents used.
Help to avoid accidents; if the unit
should ever be discarded, render it
useless by removing the cable, or by
cutting the cable as close to the unit as
possible.
Areas if use
The hob is only intended for normal
household use. It is important that you
follow the advice given in these
instructions in order to avoid any risk
of damage to persons and objects.
Used for any other purpose invalidates
the guarantee as well as product
liability.
4
Product liability
Our liability is limited to that which is
stipulated by law, and covers only
damage to persons and property, which
results from defects in materials and
workmanship of the unit itself.
This liability extends for a period of 10
years from the date of purchase as a
factory-new unit.
Reservations
Our liability does not apply in the
event that the damage in question is
due to any of the following conditions:
The unit has not been installed in
accordance with the instructions set
forth in this pamphlet.
That the damage is caused by transport
at a later date, for instance during
removal or resale.
That the damage is caused by any form
of use contrary to common sense.
Positioning
It is advisable to place the unit near an
out-of-the-way, or closed, corner, with
space on either side on which to rest
hot cooking utensils. The unit should
not be placed at a heavily-trafficked or
open corner, nor in at pasageway.
Unpacking
Check to see whether the unit is
damaged.
Distribution damages
Any damages due to transportation by
us or by our representative must be
reported to the dealer not later than
one week after receipt of the unit.
Check
If you make a note of the model,
product and serial numbers on receipt
you will always have this information
to hand (See frontpage).
These numbers will be needed for any
service visits.
The model number plate is situated on
the bottom of the hob.
Size of pots and pans
Medium-sized burner, recommended
size 130-210 mm.
Large burner, recommended size 180 -
280 mm.
5
Saftey
To enable the consumer to locate any
leaks in the installation, a smelling
substance has been added to all gas
qualities available in the market -
natural gas or bottled gas.
When smelling gas or in case of any
other kind of malfunction of the unit
switch off the main gas supply or the
bottled gas and contact service, an
authorized heating and sanitary
engineer or your gas supplier.
It is recommended that a maintenance
check of the gas installation and the
unit should be performed at least every
three years. Consult your authorized
heating and sanitary engineer.

Faults
Question:
There is no spark when lighting the
gas?
When the operating knob is released
the gas ring goes out again?
The gas ring burns very unevenly??
Answer
Check whether the 230 V connection
has been plugged in. The ground fault
circuit relay way have switched off.
The fuse has blown
The operating knob has not been
depressed long enough, or has not
been depressed sufficiently.
Check whether the cover has been
replaced correctly, e.g. after cleaning.

Burner markings
Signs at each operating knob indicate
which burner is to be adjusted with the
knob in question.

Burner cover/burner ring
Together with the burner ring the burner
cover forms a space where the final
mixture of gas and air takes place in
order to make the gas burn correctly.
Please note: It is consequently very
important that the individual burner
cover/ring is placed correctly on the
burner. The burner ring has been
provided with holes for the ignition
electrode, and the thermo sensor.
If the burner cover/ring are wrongly
placed the burner will operate
incorrectly, and the burners may be
damaged within at short space of time.
Ignition electrode (A)
Each burner has been provided with an
ignition electrode. As long as the
operating knob is depressed, the
automatic ignition will ensure that a
spark is emitted between the ignition
electrode and the burner cover.
Thermo Sensor (B)
The hob unit features fully-secured gas
taps (thermo-fuse)
In case the flame goes out, the thermo
sensor automatically prevents gas
admission after a few seconds (max. 90
seconds).
Note: Gas admission is always allowed
while the operation button is pressed -

2. The ignition electrode will emit
sparks, and when the mixture of gas
and air is correct, the burner will be
ignited. If it is not possible to
connect the unit to mains, a
match may be used to ignite the
burner.
3. After starting the burner, press the
control knob for approx. 10

Maintenance and cleaning
Stainless steel surfaces
Perform daily cleaning with a slightly
damp cloth. For more severe soiling,
use a liquid scouring cream. Always
clean the steel in the direction of the
steel finish. To ensure that the steel
retains its shine, it is recommended
that you use a polishing agent for
stainless steel on a regular basis.
Always polish in the direction of the
steel finish (cross-wise).
Never use steel wool, metal sponges or
other abrasive cleaning agents.
Avoid saucepans boiling over. If you
have been so unfortunate as to get
water in the burner this water should
be removed before re-igniting the
burner, e.g. with a no-fluff cloth.
11
Caution: In order to avoid a hazard this
appliance must be installed according
to these instructions for installation
The hob unit can be mounted in any
type of kitchen with a table surface
whose thickness is between 28 mm
and 40 mm.
Headroom
The distance to any shelves or tops of
a cabinet under the hob is to be at least
55 mm.
Fixing
Screw the fixing brackets out to such
an extent that they can be turned in
under the table top. Tighten the
brackets on to the table top with an
ordinary screwdriver.
Cut-out measurements
One rectangular hole is sawn out for
the hob combination chosen.
The depth of the cut-out for any unit
is: 490 mm
Length of hole = sum of all units`
externally measured length, less 20
mm.
Mounting of Reinforcement
Beams
A reinforcement Beam, with
supporting flanges at each end, is
included with each two-burner unit.
For unit combinations, a reinforcement
beam must be used between each unit.

Installation of a single unit
When mounting a single unit, be it a
half-or full size unit, in a table surface
which is thicker than 30 mm, it is
necessary to make a special notch in
both sides of the cut-out hole, as
shown in the adjacent drawing.
The purpose of these notches is to
create space for the electrical cables.
Glass cover
For units with a glass cover, ensure
that the cover always remains open
while the unit is operating (operation
indicator lamp on).
13
Gas installation
In accordance with local
requirements for domestic gas
cooking appliances.
